Terry started his career at The Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House) working with Japanese businesses that were planning for the Single European Market. He was also a Lecturer on International Relations at the London School of Economics for six years.

He moved from Chatham House to be a senior researcher for the Price Waterhouse Cranfield Project on HR trends, policies, and practices across private and public sectors in 14 European countries. The project involved HR practitioners and business school partners in each country. At the end of this two-year project, Terry was invited to join the faculty of Cranfield School of Management as their first Lecturer on International Business.

His career with investment banking began with Morgan Stanley where he led management development and the Learning and Development team in Europe.

He moved from there to Citigroup where he was Head of Organisational Effectiveness providing in-house organisational and leadership development consultancy to businesses in the Corporate and Investment Bank.

After more than four years at Citigroup, Terry was recruited by Barclays Capital as the Global Head of Leadership, Learning and Development. The role had responsibility of Leadership and Talent Development, Performance Management, Training Advisory, Financial Product Training, and HR Planning. The role involved managing significant change.

His most recent role in London was at Merrill Lynch as Head of Leadership and Development for EMEA. Terry managed 18 team members and the function was responsible for delivering and supporting training and development, talent review/management, and performance management. Under his direction, the team was rated one of the top three UK L&D functions in the 2007 Sunday Times' Top Places to Work.

Terry has a BA in Political Science, an MA in comparative politics and policy analysis, and an MA in international relations. He is a Corporate Advisor for the EQUIS business school accrediting board, on the Corporate Advisory Board of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), the MBA Advisory Board of Cranfield and a member of the Royal Institute of International Affairs.
