Ted Black is an affiliate with Schaffer Consulting. Most of Ted's career has been spent in South Africa focused on the two prime concerns of management-strategy and productivity. He has been a director of companies and held senior positions in organization development and general management.
His main interest is to use high-precision, results-driven projects to grow managers fast and measurably. He used this approach first during the early 1980s when he was put in charge of a troubled company in the steel industry-a service center. It was a successful turnaround.
Ted eventually started his own practice and has collaborated with Gerard van Hoek and Schaffer Consulting since 2000. His clients include companies in timber, steel, agriculture, IT, and professional services.
He is author of The Red Bead Game-using the work of Robert H. Schaffer's The Breakthrough Strategyand Dr. Edwards Deming it describes in story form, how a 100-Day Project was used to turn around an ailing company.
More recently, he co-authored a successful, controversial book Who Moved My Share Price? Also a novel but based on fact, it shows how substituting financial tools for purposeful, ethical management can destroy companies and shareholder value.
Ted also coaches executives and is a frequent guest speaker at conferences and business schools.
