Gerardo Soto is an affiliate with Schaffer Consulting. He consults on organizational change and has helped leaders of companies achieve significant results.
For ten years, from 1995 to 2004, he worked for Banorte, the fourth largest bank of Mexicoleading the Human Resources department during his last three years there. During these years, Gerardo participated in the merging and acquisition processes of three banks and was the change management leader for structural changes. He conducted compensation and benefits reforms and changed the HR focus to strategic issues, working closely with the CEO and top business executives.
From 1989 to 1994, he worked at PIPSA, a large newsprint paper group, with headquarters in Mexico City. Gerardo was the board secretary and coordinated the meetings and executive reports of the CEO. He participated in the due-diligence process for selling the group.
Gerardo's career began as an economic advisor for the Foreign Trade Institute in 1981-82. During the next six years, from 1983 to 1988, he worked as the Technical Secretary of the Economic Cabinet in the Office of the Mexican President, Miguel de la Madrid. He was a support director for meetings and ensured follow up of the agreements of the Economic Cabinet.
Gerardo holds a Masters degree in economics from the Investigation Center for Economics in Mexico City. He also studied in the executive program of the Pan-American Institute of Top Business Management in 2001 in Monterrey, Mexico.
